About Ownfri
Built by someone who was the bottleneck.
Ownfri didn't start as software. It started as five years of being the only person who could close the café, fix the machine, cover the shift, and make the call. It works, right up until you want your life back.
For five years I ran a café on margins thin enough to see through. I loved the work. What I didn't expect was how completely it would come to depend on me. Not the brand, not the systems, me.
The hard part was never the long hours. It was that everything routed through one person. Pricing, the schedule, the supplier who shorted us, the new hire who needed answers: all of it queued behind my attention. A day off cost money. A real vacation felt reckless. I had built myself a job I couldn't leave.
I tried the usual advice. Hire better. Delegate more. "Work on the business, not in it." None of it stuck, because the thing that made the place work wasn't written down anywhere. It was in my head. So every handoff quietly bounced back to me.
Eventually I understood the real problem. It wasn't that I needed to work harder, or care more. It was that the business had no way to hold its own weight. And nobody was building tools for owners like me: small, capable, tired, and standing on the one fault line that could take the whole thing down.
Ownfri is the system I wish I'd had. It finds where you're the single point of failure, captures how things actually get done, and takes the routine off your plate, so fewer things run through you every month. Not another dashboard to manage. A way to finally set some of the weight down.
Indispensable isn't a compliment. It's a risk you've been carrying alone.
What we believe
The convictions Ownfri is built on.
01
A business should hold its own weight
If it collapses the moment you step away, it isn't an asset yet. It's a job with your name on the deed. The goal is something that stands without you holding it up.
02
The know-how can't live only in your head
What makes it work has to leave your head and live somewhere it can be handed off. That's the difference between delegating and just hoping.
03
Ambition shouldn't cost you your life
You shouldn't have to choose between a business that thrives and a life worth coming home to. Built right, the business protects both.
"I ran a café on thin margins for five years. I know what it's like to be the only one who can close, fix, and decide. Ownfri is the system I wish I'd had: built to give owners their business back, not another thing to manage."Alex del Valle · founder of Ownfri. Built by an operator, not a software company guessing at what running a small business feels like.
